From Trees to Networks

The paradigm of Organized Complexity

Manuel Lima is a famous graphic designer and information architect that was recently acclaimed for his influential book: “Visual Complexity: Mapping Patterns of Information“. Here below is an attractive cartoon taking over one of its most inspirational talk (to see the original videoclick here). In my opinion, a vivid and very interesting overview of the trends currently moving data visualization and analytics.

“My quest is to reveal how everything is interconnected. From the atom to the cell, to the body and beyond into society and the cosmos, there are underlying processes, structures and rhythms that are mirrored all around and permeate reality. I attempt to visualize ‘the molecular process of revolution’; how one small thing leads to another and larger patterns emerge. I am interested in the parallels between laws of physics and the movements of people, between a political revolution and a spiritual one”. by Sharon Malloy (Artist belonging to the Networkism trend).
